2018夏のDTA東北に参加してくれたタイのデザイナー Techit Jiroが、
自分の生まれ育ったバンコクをもっと良い場所にするためにぜひDTAを！と奔走し、実現しました。

Techitがプログラムディレクターをつとめ、彼の率いる市民団体SATARANA (タイ語で「公共」の意)が現地のオペレーションを担います。

今回のDTAがこれまでのプログラムと違うのは、大都市型ということ。
都市の急速な開発によってもたらされたさまざまな課題に直面するコミュニティにたいし、
異なる文化的背景や視点を持ったメンバーが集まって
デザインがどのように貢献できるかを模索します。

DTA in Bangkokには、日本は東京・岡山・山形から3名、
マレーシアのクアラルンプールから1名、
計4名の気鋭デザイナーたちが参加。
タイで活躍するローカルデザイナーと2人1組のチームを組んで、旧市街の4つのコミュニティに入っていきます。

今回DTAとしては10回目のプログラムとなりますが、
一体どのような展開になるのか、事務局としても想像が及ばないほど、多彩なコミュニティとメンバーが集まっています。

We are thrilled to announce that next DOOR to ASIA program will take place in Bangkok, Thailand. DTA 2018 participant designer Techit Jiro as the program director with his excellent team SATARANA(creative citizen group based in Bangkok / SATARANA means “public” in Thai).

This time DTA will work with/for 4 communities in old town in Bangkok, all of them facing “urbain challenges”.
3 designers from Japan and 1 designer from KL will participate as international designers, and they will cooperate with Thai local designers to come up with an idea for the community.

We have no idea what it is going to be like, although this is the 10th DTA program - so excited.
